Week 1 challenge | Create a donation station

It's time to think inside the box. A cardboard box that is.

That's right, all you need for your first Thrifty 50 Challenge is a cardboard box and a marker.

(Bonus points if the cardboard box is one you already have!)

Grab your marker and write, "TO DONATE" on the front of your box. Put it somewhere
that you'll see it often. Voila, you now have a "Donation station."

Whenever you come across something in good shape that you no longer
need - into the box it goes! When the box is full, bring the items to your local
MCC Thrift shop where they'll be given new life.

If you find many of your items are a little damaged, you can create
two additional boxes: "TO REPAIR" and "TO UPCYCLE." By
using these boxes you should have fewer items ending up in your
garbage can and, ultimately,the landfill.

Did you try this challenge? Post a photo on social media with
the hashtag #thrifty50 and tag us with @MCCThrift. We'd love
to see how you're doing!

Until next Wednesday,
Lori Giesbrecht

PS: If having cute boxes will encourage you to use your donation
station, check out the free, printable labels in your guide to eco-friendly
decluttering.
