Week 26 challenge | A car free day

Did you know that the first vehicle rolled onto the streets in 1886? And today, there are over one billion vehicles on the road around the globe. Yikes. That’s over four billion tires – that’s a lot of rubber on the road (literally)!

Coincidentally 😉, this Thursday, September 22nd, is Car Free Day. Are you up for the challenge?

Tomorrow (or any other day this week), leave your car at home and take an alternate mode of transportation. This could mean walking or biking to work or to a friend’s house or taking the bus to run errands. With gas prices these days, you’ll save some dough AND be kinder to our planet.

Don’t have a car? You’re already winning by helping to reduce the pollution that motor vehicles contribute to the planet.

Did you try this challenge? Post a photo of you not using your car 😊 on social media with the hashtag #thrifty50 and tag us with @MCCThrift. We'd love to see how you're doing!

Until next Wednesday,
Lori Giesbrecht
